God Made Me . . .MAD!

‘Count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience but let patience have its perfect work that you may be perfect and complete, lacking for nothing.’
James 1: 2-4
“Why did this happen to me?” Pain and anger lined my youngest daughter’s face. A victim of an accident that had left her broken and deaf, Carly’s anger toward God seemed to multiply on a daily basis.
I empathized with her feelings. At twenty-three, I had been brutally attacked, left with a broken back and unrelenting pain. While the physical problems were difficult, the anger I felt toward God that crippled me even more. How could He allow this to happen when I had been following His plan in my life?
Ten years passed as my anger toward God festered. Finally I sought help from a Christian therapist, asking the question that had hounded my thoughts. “Why me, God?”
Her response? “Why not you?”
God never promised a life without suffering and problems. In fact, it’s a guarantee. But it’s how we handle those problems that can either grow our faith or cause us to stumble. If you have an unresolved anger toward the Lord, take a moment and look outside yourself. Could it be that God is using the situation to hone the sharp edges of your person to make you a better servant for His kingdom?
Prayer: Lord, help us during for those tough times that help us to grow our faith in you. And thank You for the times that make us into the people You desire us to become
